DOWNHILL SKIING:

Bolton Valley Resort: 9 miles, off Rt. 2 East. Largest ski area in Chittenden County. Bolton Valley has the second highest base elevation in the NE. Day and night skiing. Snowboard park. Discount tickets available at the Inn. Nordic trails, snow shoeing also available. Lessons and equipment rental available at base lodge.

Cochran's Ski Area: The closest ski area to Burlington, right here in Richmond. Perfect for beginners or families. Rentals and lessons available.

Smugglers Notch Ski Area: 18 miles north on Rts. # 15 and # 108. Day and night skiing. Snowboard park. Discount tickets available from inn. Lessons and equipment rental available at base lodge.

Sugarbush Ski Area: 26 miles east on Rts.#100 and #17. Ski equipment and lessons available at base lodge.

Mad River Ski Area: 23 miles east on Rt. #17. Ski equipment & lessons available at base lodge.  Discount tickets available at the Inn.

Stowe/Mt. Mansfield Ski Area: 31 miles north on Rts. #100 & #108. Ski equipment and lessons available at base lodge.

 

CROSS COUNTRY SKIING:

Catamount Family Center: Williston (6 miles west on Rt. #2). 40 km of trails for all levels. Equipment rentals. Snowshoes also available. Sledding and Ice skating also available.

SNOW MOBILING:

The Richmond Victorian Inn is a member of VAST (Vermont Association of Snow Travelers). VAST Permits can be purchased in Richmond and allow access to over 5,000 miles of trails in Vermont. Five miles to closest entrance to VAST trails. Inn parking lot can accommodate snow mobile trailers. Trail rides available in area (machine rental and guide) for two hour or half-day excursions.

 

SHOPPING:

Antiques: Many group shops available in local Burlington area. "Issac's" shop in Richmond open by appointment from Nov. l.-May 1. May-October hours are 9am-6pm Monday-Sunday.

Church Street Marketplace: Downtown Burlington pedestrian mall with 160 unique shops, galleries, restaurants, and street vendors a 20 minute drive west on Rt. #2.

University Mall: South Burlington. Vermont's largest enclosed shopping center with 75 national and local retail stores. 15 minutes drive west on Rt. # 2.

Champlain Mill: Winooski. Restored woolen mill with distinctive stores and restaurants. 20 minutes north at Winooski.

Factory Outlets: In local area (15-20 minute drive). Dexter Shoes

Factory Outlet; Ralph Loren Factory Outlet; Levi's & Dockers; Hanes/Bali Outlet; Jones of New York, etc.

 

MUSEUMS:

Shelburne Museum: Treasures from America's past. 37 exhibit buildings containing collections of quilts, coverlets hooked rugs, decoys, trade signs, weather vanes, ships carvings, horse drawn fire engines, farm & trade wagons and stagecoaches. 45 scenic acres of gardens with lilacs, perennials and herbs. Seven furnished historic houses and community buildings including a one room school, covered bridge, lighthouse, general store and the steamboat "Ticonderoga." Twenty minutes drive south on Rt. #7.

Birds of Vermont Museum: Life like carvings of over 200 bird species. Nature trails and educational classes. Special one-way glass window allows close up viewing of songbirds. 10 minute drive to Huntington.

Shelburne Farms: Walking trails, children's farm, guided tours and farm store. 1,400 acre working farm, national historic site and nonprofit environmental education center. Fifteen minute drive on Rt. # 7 south.

Vermont Teddy Bear Factory: See how teddy bears are made. Fun filled tour and visit to the "Bear Shop." Twenty minutes south on Rt. # 7.

Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream Factory: Watch the famous flavors being made and sample the flavor of the day. Twenty minutes north on Rt. #100.

Burlington Waterfront: Rental of sailboats, wind surfers, power boats available. Two hour scenic cruises, sunset cruises, dinner cruises available (May-October). Stroll the waterfront along the seven mile path and enjoy one of Burlington's finest sight... the sunset over the lakefront and mountains of New York state. Enjoy learning about the lake at ECHO, at the Leahy Center for Lake Champlain - a new world-class science center and lake aquarium on Burlington’s Waterfront with aquatic displays, live animals, hands-on interactive exhibits and more.  Restaurants and shops invite you to spend time enjoying the cuisine and crafts. Fifteen minutes west on Rt. #2.
